WAAMmat is a multi project multi-client programme aiming at maturing the wire plus arc additive manufacture (WAAM) process so that it can be exploited by the industry. The research projects tackle problems such as automation, mechanical properties, residual stress and distortion and how to build large scale complex engineering structures. The programme comprises more than 20 activities including student projects, industry contracts and government funded projects. As well as industrial partners the WAAMmat programme has several academic partners helping to achieve its goal.
