Dr. Charles Macleod is a Lecturer and Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of Strathclyde having graduated from the institution with both an MEng with Distinction in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in 2010 and a PhD in Automated Inspection in 2014. His research is primarily associated with the inspection and manufacturing enhancement of high value assets and components. This research by its core nature is highly interdisciplinary, spanning across traditional boundaries in mechanical, manufacturing, electronic and control engineering. He has delivered tangible impact in his field with notable examples including the development of a robot for onsite inspection at the Sellafield Reprocessing Site along with the successful licensing of hardware and software to a leading UK automated inspection system manufacturer. He is the author of over 50 scientific articles in the area of Automated Inspection along with being the creator of portable robotic demonstration cells for STEM outreach.
