I am a Strathclyde Chancellor’s Fellow (Lecturer as part of Strathclyde Global Talent Programme) at the University of Strathclyde. My multidisciplinary works have been reflected in my appointment which is a joint appointment between the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering (EEE) and the Department of Design, Manufacturing & Engineering Management (DMEM). Hence, I enjoy being a member of NEWAM consortium which is also a multidisciplinary research group. In a career spanning over 15 years in the field of engineering (particular focus on welding, non-destructive evaluation, additive manufacturing and robotics), I have worked as a lecturer and postdoctoral research associate (at The University of Manchester and the University of Strathclyde) in the academia and also a manager of the welding/NDT department and welding engineer in the industry. I have published 62 refereed technical articles (including 35 journal papers), first author on 43 papers, with h-index of 16 and 834 citations in total, including two papers with >100 citations. My international reputation in Welding/NDT has been also reflected in 133 manuscripts I have reviewed for many engineering journals (e.g., NDT&E, Ultrasonics, Materials & Design, etc.). Based on the Network map section of Pure at the University of Strathclyde (UoS), my co-authors have been spread all over the world from India to the Middle East, Europe and North America.
I am a member of Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering (CUE) where my research focus is on the in-process inspection and residual stress measurement (non-destructive methods) in the welding and Wire + Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM). Some part of my current research outputs is reflected in two WAAM/NDT papers published in Insight (2018) and Additive Manufacturing (2019) journals plus two Welding/NDT papers recently published (2020) in Materials & Design (in-process inspection) and Journal of Manufacturing Processes (residual stress). NEWAM has been acknowledged in most of my recent publications showing the alignment of my current research interests with this interesting project.
