Hi there, my name is Richard Pyle

Research Associate in Machine Learning for NDE

I am a research associate at Strathclyde University where I work in the Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering to develop and implement machine learning techniques for non-destructive evaluation. Within this work I have a focus on building trust in machine learning predictions through interpretability, uncertainty quantification and incorporating human knowledge into our algorithms.

I completed my undergraduate and Eng.D. studies at The University of Bristol. My EngD demonstrated the application of machine learning to crack sizing for ultrasonic inline pipe inspection.

In my free time I cycle, rock climb, bake bread and sing in a community choir.
