Multi-Energy Interactions
When combining different heat sources with different physical properties and working principles, it is necessary to understand how one heat source influences the nominal operation of another. In this section, we investigate physical and thermal interactions between multiple-lasers and plasma arc processes and the overall process stability. Attention is paid to arc stability, absorption of laser energy, process efficiency and control. To understand the net thermal profile and the evolution of bead shape generated by the multiple sources, the experiments are supported by thermal and fluid dynamic modelling.
