Professor Gareth Pierce leads the team in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) in NEWAM.
His background is in Physics and measurement systems, and he is based in the Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering at Strathclyde University. His interests are in robotics and autonomous systems for inspection, including non-destructive testing and evaluation (NDT&E) for manufacture, and structural health monitoring (SHM) for asset inspection.
He holds a first class degree in Physics (University of Manchester 1989) and a PhD in Instrumentation (University of Manchester 1993). He is certified (C&G 2391, 2009) in the Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations, and holds a Certificate in Counselling Skills (COSCA, 2019).
He has a long standing interest in photography, and likes music, nature, philosophy, psychology, and marmite.
