I am a physical metallurgist and MSc in Welding Engineering, with experience in materials testing and characterisation, including microstructural analysis, interpretation and measurement. I am developing my career in the fundamental understanding of material interaction with heat sources during different additive manufacture technologies; including both Wire + Arc Additive Manufacture (WAAM) and Selective Laser Melting (SLM). I have been responsible for the metallurgical characterisation of additively manufactured (AM) components in a wide range of projects. My role in the NEWAM programme is in the development of novel alloys within WAAM applications in order to improve mechanical performance. I’m also a part-time PhD candidate at Cranfield University. My doctorate is focused on the correlation between different processing conditions and mechanical properties obtained during AM. In my free time I enjoy watching movies and photography.
