FE thermal modelling
Three-dimensional steady state finite element model has been built to study the effect of process parameters including laser power, travel speed, separation distance between two heat sources, and laser beam diameter on the thermal behaviour of Ti-6Al-4V in hybrid PTA-laser melting process. In addition, a thermal FE model has been developed with equivalent heat source to study the thermal distribution of MES process with arc source and dynamic scanning laser.
